Windows Systems & Patch Automation Engineer

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Engineer to join our infrastructure operations team. Your primary focus will be securing and maintaining enterprise infrastructure through vulnerability remediation and daily patch management using Qualys and Ivanti ISec (Security Controls). You will also leverage your Windows System Administration experience to monitor server health, enforce policies, and facilitate daily IT operations.

Key Responsibilities: Patch Management & Vulnerability Remediation

• Run and oversee routine vulnerability scans via Qualys to detect absent security patches and system risks.
• Deploy and validate updates for operating systems and third-party applications leveraging Ivanti ISec.
• Organize patch schedules across both staging and production environments to reduce downtime.
• Analyze patch failures and troubleshoot common deployment errors on servers and endpoints.
• Support the creation of reports and dashboards to demonstrate patch compliance levels to management.

Key Responsibilities: Windows System Administration

• Administer and sustain Windows Server environments, encompassing user access, Active Directory, and Group Policy Objects (GPOs).
• Execute server health checks, analyze system logs, and support regular system hardening.
• Troubleshoot escalated helpdesk tickets concerning server performance and operating system errors.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Education: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
• Experience: Requires 2 to 3 years of practical, hands-on experience in IT infrastructure, system administration, or security operations.
• Tooling Expertise: Practical proficiency with Qualys and Ivanti ISec / Security Controls for managing enterprise systems.
• OS Internals: Strong comprehension of Windows Server operating systems, including file systems, registries, and installer packages (MSI/EXE).
• Automation: Competence in reading, modifying, and authoring fundamental PowerShell scripts for task automation.
• Process Management: Knowledge of standard ITIL processes such as Change Management and Incident Management.
• Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities and articulate communication skills for effective cross-team collaboration.

Preferred Certifications

• Qualys Certified Specialist (Vulnerability Management or Patch Management).
• Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate.
